He’s a man for all seasons, that Art the Clown—and while Terrifier 3, the follow-up to surprise sensation Terrifier 2, has claimed October 2024 as its release date, its first marketing push is all about Christmas. And while we’ve seen a lot of scary Santas in the past, Art’s version is exceptionally ghoulish.
Here’s the teaser for writer-director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which offers a timely reminder that you should never, ever assume the guy in the red suit rustling around the presents under your tree is Jolly Old Saint Nick.
“Art the Clown will unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve” is the only plot description we have so far, along with the reassurance that David Howard Thornton is back to reprise his role as horror’s newest boogeyman. The cast also includes Lauren LaVera, who played Terrifier 2‘s final girl Sienna Shaw; Elliott Fullam, who played Sienna’s little brother; and Terrifier part one and two veteran Samantha Scaffidi, whose Victoria “Vicky” Heyes had quite the cliffhanger at the end of part two. Pro wrester Chris Jericho will also return, and horror icon Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) joins the cast.
“Terrifier 2‘s remarkable success was driven not only by the insatiable appetite for new and thrilling horror icons like Art the Clown but also by its unparalleled theatrical release and marketing, along with its unyielding spirit,” Leone said in a press release. “In a cinematic landscape where risk-taking is scarce, I will continue to push boundaries in Terrifier 3, and I can’t wait for you to see what’s in store for Art the Clown.”
Terrifier 2 just got a theatrical re-release, which is where this teaser first debuted; you can also stream it on Screambox. Terrifier 3 hits theaters October 25, 2024.
