You can now level up your spooky doll collection with a truly alarming new addition: Baby Beetlejuice, who just made his debut in Tim Burton‘s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. In the movie, he’s a chip off the old block—a true agent of chaos with the same taste in fashion, albeit far less verbal and quite a bit smaller in stature—and you won’t need to say his name three times to summon him in the real world. That’ll require $130 at the NECA Store, as long as you make haste before this new release inevitably sells out.
Here’s what NECA has to say about this terrifying tyke: “Own a life-size replica doll of the breakout character from the 2024 film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. This 1:1 doll is based on Baby Beetlejuice’s on-screen appearance and has been exactingly duplicated. With 5 points of articulation, the doll features posable eyes, synthetic rooted hair, movie authentic deco, a weighted body, and tailored clothing. It’s a centerpiece addition to your Beetlejuice collection and a wonderful addition to your family! The doll measures 14 inches when seated and 19 inches when lying flat. Comes in collector-friendly window box packaging.”
Speaking to io9 and Gizmodo’s Adriano Contreras as part of a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice press event, one of the movie’s (human) stars, Justin Theroux, had high praise for Baby Beetlejuice. “That was my favorite prop in the whole movie—like, an incredible piece of machinery and artwork. It is a sculpture and it’s a character in its own right. It’s so funny,” he said. “I have all these great videos on my phone of it. It’s like a doll. It’s controlled by a bunch of people that can turn its head and look up, down, blink, make expressions, be shocked, be vicious. And of course, it’s got wires coming out of its back with puppeteers. But it was an incredible prop.”
NECA’s version isn’t quite as expressive as the big-screen puppet version, but it’s still a stunning reproduction. According to NECA, the doll is expected to ship in “late September,” which means chances are good you’ll have it just in time to accessorize your Ghost House-era Lydia Deetz Halloween costume.
Here’s a few more images of the figure, too; you’ll need to supply your own green glowing light to replicate this display effect:
This could be you!
